Local Dog Walks

Solo Safe Walking
Local Dog Walks for Women on Their Own
There is something quietly powerful about a woman walking alone with her dog.
But it also needs to feel safe.
As someone who walks daily around Cranleigh with my little sidekick, I know how important it is to feel comfortable — not watched, not isolated, not uneasy. Just calm. Just fresh air. Just paws on gravel and birds overhead.
So here you’ll find my favourite safe-feeling local walks — routes with open visibility, friendly footfall, parking nearby, and that reassuring sense that you’re not too far from the village.
Not the lonely hidden tracks.
Not the ones that make your shoulders tense.
The good ones.
The ones where:
• Other dog walkers nod hello
• You can hear distant traffic (in a reassuring way)
• There are houses or farms nearby
• You don’t feel cut off from the world
Because walking should regulate your nervous system — not activate it.
I’ll share:
– Where to park
– Best times of day
– Which routes feel open and visible
– Where it can get muddy
– Where you’re likely to bump into friendly locals
Cranleigh is full of beautiful countryside — and when you know where to go, you can enjoy it confidently.
Dog in one hand.
Coffee after.
Peace of mind intact.

The Routes I Trust
Living in Cranleigh means we are lucky. Fields, woodland, open skies. But when you walk daily — especially if you’re a little protective like I am — you start to notice which places feel right.
Knowle park is … Not just pretty.
These are the walks I come back to. This is my anchor walk. Open paths. Clear sight lines. Regular dog walkers. You rarely feel hidden here. Early mornings are especially calm mist on the grass, the pond still, everything gentle.
When you can see who’s approaching, your body relaxes. The openness makes it feel less vulnerable. Good for stretching legs without feeling closed in.
.I walk here when I need my head to settle. You can see ahead of you. It’s simple. Daylight walks only for me — I like visibility.
Cranleigh is beautiful. But beauty feels better when you feel safe.
Walking your dog should feel grounding, not stressful. And when you choose your routes wisely, it really can be peaceful.

KNOWLE PARK
Knowle Park, Cranleigh A quiet constant in the village In the centre of Cranleigh sits Knowle Park — not loud, not showy, just steady. It’s the kind of place that feels the same even when life doesn’t. You walk in and the noise drops. The trees rise tall around the...
