Park for Paws, Cranleigh
I booked Park for Paws in advance.
One of those quiet decisions you make earlier in the day when you just know it will make things easier later. Not rushed. Not last minute. Just a simple thought that sits in the back of your mind until it becomes the best part of the day.
Driving out, the village starts to soften behind you. The roads open a little, the air feels different, and without really noticing, you begin to slow down.
You arrive, open the gate, drive in, and close it behind you. And in that moment, everything else stays outside. No interruptions. No one else arriving. Just your time, your space.
She knew straight away.
Before I had even properly stood still, she was off. That full run, the kind you never really see on a normal walk. Her whole body stretched out, completely free, not checking back, not holding anything in.
And I just stood there for a second watching her, thinking how much they must need this. Not a quick lap of the village. Not a lead. Just space.
It does something to you as well.
You stop without realising. Your shoulders drop. You are not looking around, not anticipating anything, not managing anything. You are just there.
It is quiet in a way that feels rare.
There is nothing complicated about it. Just a field, enclosed properly, a few things for them to explore, and enough space for them to be exactly what they are meant to be.
And somehow, that is more than enough.
By the time we left, she was calmer. Not exhausted in that wired way, but settled. That good kind of tired that sits differently.
And I felt it too, if I am honest. A little more level. A little less rushed.
It made me think how often we try to do more, go more places, fit more in, when sometimes it is just about choosing one simple thing that works.
Booking a field, turning up, and letting everything else wait for a while.
