A Moment at Knowle Park
Knowle Park
It felt today as though time had stood still at Knowle Park.
The birds were singing high in the trees, and squirrels darted busily along the branches above. My dog, of course, had other plans, tail wagging furiously as she watched them scurry past. I’m quite certain she didn’t want to play.
In the warm sunshine, volunteers were hard at work. Fixing fences. Digging the ground. Quietly tending to the park so that the rest of us can wander through it with our dogs, enjoy the open space, or simply stop for a coffee and a chat.
And chat people did.
The coffee was flowing, conversations were warm, and today I found myself speaking with the local photographer a gentleman I’ve come to find rather fascinating. Always friendly, always present, always lending a hand here at the park. You sense immediately that he cares deeply for this place.
But then again, that seems to be the nature of the volunteers here. Kind people, through and through, giving their time simply because they love Cranleigh.
The sunlight filtered through the trees, the fresh green shoots pushing through the soil. I stood there for a moment feeling the warmth on my face, a little dose of vitamin D and something else besides.
Gratitude.
Because what I saw today wasn’t just a park being cared for.
It was kindness in action.
Cranleigh seems to be full of people like that — people who quietly serve their community without fuss or fanfare. And I feel very lucky to live here now.
It took me a little while to settle in. I am still fairly new to the area. But slowly, gently, I find myself enjoying these small moments more and more.
And in between walks and coffee conversations, I sit and write.
Quietly.
Observing village life.
After all… nobody really knows who I am.
And if they do, I suspect they won’t tell.
Because everyone seems rather fond of keeping the secret of the Cranleigh blogger.
Ps : My dogs ball was never found again …
Simply beautiful and calm in nature
